Lean Hogs Lower on Tuesday

At the close for the Tuesday session, lean hog futures were 42 cents to $1.35 in the red. The summer months were down the most, though hogs remain above $100 out through October contracts. May hogs roll off the board on Friday. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price for Tuesday was withheld due to technical difficulties. Monday’s afternoon quote was $112.22. The May 7th CME Lean Hog Index was 88 cents stronger to $110.10.  

Pork cutout futures also closed triple digits weaker. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value was quoted at $113.20 cwt. in the PM report, which was 4 cents higher. USDA estimates Tuesday’s slaughter was 485k head bringing the WTD slaughter to 968,000. 

Jun 21 Hogs  closed at $111.175, down $0.925,

Jul 21 Hogs  closed at $111.425, down $1.275

Jun 21 Pork Cutout  closed at $116.925, down $1.125,
